During Pregnancy

Nausea & vomiting

One of the most well-supported uses of acupuncture in pregnancy (especially early pregnancy nausea).

Low back pain & pelvic pain

Research supports acupuncture for pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pain, including pelvic girdle pain.

Sleep & stress regulation

Acupuncture may help regulate the nervous system and improve sleep quality.

Headaches

Often used as a non-pharmacologic option for tension-type headaches during pregnancy.

Preparation for labor

In the final weeks of pregnancy, acupuncture is used to support cervical ripening and readiness.

Breech support

Used alongside standard care (like moxibustion techniques) to encourage optimal fetal positioning.

What I Support During Pregnancy & Postpartum

Acupuncture offers gentle, evidence-informed support during pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Treatment is always individualized and coordinated with your stage of care.

These applications are supported by a growing body of clinical research and are widely used in integrative and midwifery-based care settings.

Recovery after birth

Supports healing, energy, and overall recovery in the weeks following delivery.

Sleep & nervous system support

Helps regulate stress, overwhelm, and disrupted sleep patterns.

Lactation support

May support milk production and let-down when supply is low or delayed.

Emotional wellbeing

Supportive for mood changes, stress, and the emotional adjustment to new parenthood.

Pain & physical recovery

Including back, neck, or shoulder tension related to feeding, holding, and recovery.

FAQs

How soon after birth can I receive acupuncture?

Acupuncture can be supportive as soon as you feel ready—often within the first week postpartum. Treatments are always gentle and tailored to your stage of recovery.

What is your cancellation policy?

Because in-home visits involve reserved travel time, I ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling.

Do you coordinate care with my midwife?

Yes, when appropriate. I’m happy to collaborate to support continuity of care.

Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy and postpartum?

Yes—when provided by a trained practitioner, acupuncture is a safe and supportive therapy during both pregnancy and postpartum recovery. Treatments are always adapted to your specific stage and needs.

What if I’m feeling overwhelmed or not sure what I need?

That’s completely okay. We’ll take time at the beginning of your session to talk through what’s going on and create a plan together.
